Prepare forTrim, Transitions & Moldings
Get ready for trim, transitions & moldings: what to photograph, which material details to share, and how to arrange access to the work area.
Preparation checklist
Before you
schedule the work.
Send photos, approximate dimensions, and a short description of the work. Prime will confirm the material details, access, and other arrangements needed before installation is scheduled.
01 / Share the details
For the estimate
- Send photos showing each doorway or edge and both adjoining floor surfaces.
- Share available molding samples, product information, and approximate floor-height differences.
- Explain whether you want existing trim reused and who will handle paint or stain.
02 / Plan ahead
Materials and readiness
- Confirm the profile and dimensions before ordering matching-color pieces.
- Discuss whether the flooring manufacturer requires a particular transition or expansion detail.
- Arrange materials and finish preparation as agreed so unfinished pieces do not delay the handoff.
03 / Before work begins
Access and the space
- Clear furniture and belongings away from walls and doorway connections.
- Keep reusable trim and hardware together if removal is being handled before Prime arrives.
- Coordinate paint, stain, and door work with the installation schedule.
Set the responsibilities
Confirm what the estimate covers
Review labor, preparation, finishing, and any separate responsibilities before making delivery or scheduling arrangements.
Choose where you purchase
Bring materials from your preferred retailer. Floors Now is Prime's preferred materials supplier, and purchasing there is optional. We will review material requirements alongside the proposed installation.
