About the work

Planning your
carpet installation.

Doorways, closets, stair turns, carpet direction, and roll width affect how carpet is fitted and where seams can be placed. Measurements need to account for these features when planning the installation and material quantity.

Prime handles the installation side of your carpet project. Share the carpet and cushion you plan to use so the fitting method, substrate condition, and finishing details can be reviewed before work is scheduled. Installation may involve stretching or an adhesive system, depending on the material and application.

The right starting point

Projects to discuss

  • Bedrooms, living rooms, and other carpeted residential spaces
  • Carpet replacement coordinated with removal of the existing floor
  • Stairs, runners, and commercial spaces after a project-specific review

Before the estimate

What shapes the work

  • Room dimensions, closet layouts, and proposed seam locations
  • Carpet backing, cushion, and the manufacturer's installation requirements
  • Existing tack strip, substrate condition, door clearance, and adjoining floors

Project steps

How the work
is planned.

The sequence depends on the material, site conditions, and the work agreed for your project.

  1. 01

    Plan the fitting

Review room measurements, carpet direction, seams, and the material needed for the proposed layout.

  2. 02

    Confirm the base

Identify removal, tack-strip changes, cushion, and substrate work that need to be part of the estimate.

  3. 03

    Install and finish

Fit the carpet using the agreed method, then address seams, edges, and the transitions included in the scope.
