Prepare forHardwood Installation
Get ready for hardwood installation: what to photograph, which material details to share, and how to arrange access to the work area.
Preparation checklist
Before you
schedule the work.
Send photos, approximate dimensions, and a short description of the work. Prime will confirm the material details, access, and other arrangements needed before installation is scheduled.
01 / Share the details
For the estimate
- Send room, doorway, and existing-floor photos, including any visible damage or uneven areas.
- Provide the flooring manufacturer, model, construction, dimensions, and installation instructions when available.
- Describe the substrate if known and identify basements, concrete slabs, or recent moisture concerns.
02 / Plan ahead
Materials and readiness
- Confirm installation suitability and quantities before purchasing the wood and matching moldings.
- Coordinate delivery, storage, and conditioning with Prime using the manufacturer's instructions.
- Keep the intended indoor conditions in place; do not assume a fixed number of acclimation days suits every wood floor.
03 / Before work begins
Access and the space
- Agree on removal, furniture handling, trim reuse, and access between rooms.
- Keep material storage and work areas clear and discuss delivery access for long cartons.
- Confirm when the floor can be used and when furniture may return for the agreed installation system.
Set the responsibilities
Confirm what the estimate covers
Review labor, preparation, finishing, and any separate responsibilities before making delivery or scheduling arrangements.
