The work behind the photos

Project scope & details

The backsplash runs along an L-shaped counter and behind the sink, with tile fitted below the upper cabinets and around a framed pass-through. The existing wood cabinets, countertops, sink, and faucet remain in place.

Preparation

Protective paper covers the countertops and working area in the preparation photos. The exposed backsplash walls were prepared before tile setting; the during photos show a red surface coating across those wall areas.

Installation

Rectangular tiles were set horizontally in an offset pattern. Tile was fitted around existing outlet and switch locations, at the inside corner, and along the framed pass-through. Spacers maintained the joints during setting.

The finished work

The finished backsplash follows the counter around the corner and continues behind the sink. The after photos show light grout joints and cover plates in place, with the kitchen counters back in use.
